Well not exactly together. But in one of those odd historical incidents I collect, they did live near each other in Vienna early in 1913. BBC piece. - Future Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin spent a month in the city (arriving in January 1913), meeting Trotsky and writing Marxism and the National Question, with Nikolay Bukharin
- The neurologist Sigmund Freud moved to Vienna in 1860 as a child and left the city in 1938 after the Nazis annexed Austria
- Future Nazi leader Adolf Hitler lived there intermittently between
1908 and 1913 where he struggled to make a living as a painter - Josip Broz, later Yugoslav leader Marshal Tito, was a metalworker before being drafted into the Austro-Hungarian army
- Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky lived in Vienna from about 1907 to 1914, launching paper Pravda - The Truth
Strange enough for a Doctor Who story (and I might extend this into a scenario seed). Of course in another universe it's already a Who story. Enjoy.

Hey sorry to revive this old thread Catsmate but it reminds me of something that does relate to this thread, specifically Viennese coffee houses. The one I am referencing here specifically Café Central which in January `1913 would have seen Joseph Stalin, Leon Trotsky, Sigmund Freud, Josip Broz Tito and even Vladimir Lenin was said to have been patrons of the bar, could also throw in Adolph Hitler in there. It is a good location for an altering history type story involving meddling human or alien time travellers either to prevent the 20th century atrocities or even strengthen them. Viennese Coffee Houses are also great locations in general across the history of Vienna as well a good way for characters to hear about gossip with people reading stuff from multiple different newspapers from multiple different countries all in one space. For all we know some patrons may be reading newspapers from multiple different planets both within and outside of the galaxy. Maybe a Viennese Coffee House exclusive to aliens might be an interesting location to include serving coffee grown on different planets.

Your idea has some fascinating possibilities.

Well if this is okay, I will leave a link to this YouTube video about Vienna Coffee Houses which is what first told me about them in the first place, very informative video.

Well if this is okay, I will leave a link to this YouTube video about Vienna Coffee Houses which is what first told me about them in the first place, very informative video. Excellent background. Personally I like the idea of integrating the games that were so common in the Viennese cafes, the Tarit based card games and especially the chess. The later reminds me of the machinations of the Players...
