"As I once said, you can't really have continuity errors in a show that embraces the idea of changing history and parallel histories; you can enjoy all of "Doctor Who" if you want. And I kind of think you should. I think everything's canonical. You know, why not? Why not just say it all happened." - Steven Moffat

So "Canon" may not have been the best choise of word, but I guess you understood what I meant. Yeah - sorry, I wasn't intending to be snarky. Oh don't worry, I took no offence from your post or GeneralRose's post, I'm simply amending or clarifying what I meant...Internet discussion can be so difficult sometimes. Well even wihout the Seasons of War stuff in (which I haven't read yet). With what we have so far, we could get a very nice book about the War Doctor.

True, but I like the Seasons of War stuff.
Plus, given the Time Enough for War comic incorporates the Myth of the Hybrid and predates Series 9 by at least a year...I feel comfortable giving it a tad more credit.

So "Canon" may not have been the best choise of word, but I guess you understood what I meant. Yeah - sorry, I wasn't intending to be snarky. In terms of the Expanded Universe sourcebooks, we'll definitely be including all the official stuff within our usual guidelines on coverage - something from all the novels and audios, plus a representative sample from the comics and short stories. As for Seasons of War, it's less clear. As it's unofficial, it has more or less the same status as fan fiction. But personally, I'm hoping to be able to convince Siskoid to include a few of the more interesting things from these stories, so we'll see... Seasons of War technically is fan fiction, but it's fan fiction written by the same people who have written tons of licensed Doctor Who stuff. It even has George Mann. I'd say the series is definitely worthy of inclusion in the War Doctor Sourcebook (even just as a way to fluff out the book a bit more) or that it ought to get it's own treatment as a separate sourcebook.

Grant and Rowan Atkinson (the latter two being in the "Off-Off Canon" section.

Will splitting this volume into separate volumes be considered eventually in future editions?

Will splitting this volume into separate volumes be considered eventually in future editions? I am a little mixed about putting the War Doctor in the 9th Expanded book. I can understand why, but I am uncomfortable about conflating the two incarnation. I feel they are different enough, and have enough separate material to have their own books. Mind you, I freely admit my thoughts on the matter are a little odd.

Ultimately, it would be Siskoid's call, but who knows what will have been published by the time we reach the War Doctor!

Precisely. Time Traveller; unless you tie him to tempro-spatial events directly, he has an eternity to find the item. The fact that he has his own plans are unsurprising...

Fans of the War Doctor wanting another fix will doubtless be interested in this: Seasons of WarIt's a charity anthology of short stories about the War Doctor. Make a donation to the charity (Caudwell Children) to receive a free copy of the pdf version when it's released (the target date is early December). There will also be paperback and special deluxe editions which will be available to order on the week of release. It's unofficial, but will include contributions by a number of professional Who authors: Jenny Colgan, Lance Parkin, Kate Orman, Paul Magrs, George Mann (author of Engines of War), Gary Russell, David McIntee, John Peel, Jim Mortimore, Andrew Smith, Matthew Sweet, plus a host of fan writers and others to be announced. SEASONS OF WAR
From his 'birth' on Karn, until the Moment he ended the Time War, this Time Lord - a Time Lord who used to call himself 'The Doctor' but, no more - a Warrior, a Renegade, travelled throughout time and space, in his trusty old TARDIS, passing through dimensions unknowable and through worlds unimaginable, experiencing horrors like you wouldn't imagine, things you would never believe...
Until now.
Never giving up, never giving in, these are just some of the ADVENTURES of the Time Lord once known as The Doctor. Forced to fight in a war he didn't want, but couldn't avoid. Acting like the man he never thought he would or could be...
Here are just some of his stories...
All of time and space is burning. For every time, there is a season.
For every season, there is a war If anyone intends to pick up Seasons of War, the ebook of War Doctor short stories, and hasn't yet - you only have until 30th April to do so. The editor Declan May has announced that it won't be available after that date. Here's the charity website where you can donate (and you'll receive a link in the thank you email where you can download the book): Seasons of War - An Unofficial Doctor Who Charity AnthologyThings seem to have gone quiet about the much anticipated limited edition print version, so I've no idea whether that's still on the cards or whether the ebook is all there will be now.

Just to let people know that pre-orders for Seasons of War will close before 24th July. It's been announced that there will be NO general release of the book, and the e-book will not be made available again. So order now, if you haven't already done so and want a copy - it's all for charity, folks! And it's a great collection of War Doctor stories!
