I've had some really great advice posted on here to my other questions, and I'm finding myself in a creative pickle, so I'd like to refer my problem to your good selves once more to try and come up with some creative answers.
Below is an outline for my next adventure set in the 51st century, on a mining asteroid. The problem I need answering is this - Why is the child the woman is carrying so important to the ice-vampire?
• 51st Century Earth
• A man is married to a working class woman. They love each other.
• He supposedly dies in an accident
• In grief, she joins the mining corps to run away but doesn’t realise she’s pregnant. She goes into stasis
• What she doesn’t realise is that the man didn’t die. The reality is that he was turned into some kind of ice-vampire!
• Now, the ice-vampire man can somehow feel the fact that he had a child growing inside the woman. He begins searching but the heart beat fades, and he’s left alone
• 100 years pass, until she’s finally taken out of cryostasis and the heartbeat awakens again
• The man hears it across the void and goes after her
• He stows onboard a transport ship and gets to the mining asteroid where she’s based, killing the pilot and causing the ship to crash. The miners think it’s an accident
• The vampire’s human side wants to be with her again, but the creature side is stopping him. It begins killing / converting the miners via its bite which turns them into blocks of ice (which acts like a cocoon). It moves about in the air ducts and spies on them
• The doctor and co arrive in the middle of a crisis and they find one of the people dead nearby
• Tensions are frayed and one of the commanders begins shouting at the woman
• Whilst the doctor etc. are being interrogated, the commander goes off somewhere and is killed by the vampire (for threatening the woman)
• Begin investigating the deaths and maybe even begin suspecting that it’s the woman who’s killing people as she’s always somehow connected to the people who died
• One of the crew accuses her and then the next time they’re alone, they get killed
• On the next victim, the company all find a clue implicating that it might be the womans dead husband
• Finally confront the ice-vampire who says they will all die if they don’t give her over to him
• At this point they realise she’s pregnant
• They can’t give her over, so he awakens all the bitten people from their cocoons, and he gives them so long before they come after them and convert them all
• Doctor realises that if he does what they want, then they will be unstoppable. He will use the child to create a race of super ice vampires - HOW AND WHY
