While accustoming myself with all of Earth's systems I decided to see how the Doctor's exile was developing.
Interesting. During my educational jaunts across Earth and my brief trips across the cosmos, it appears that there have been no less than four forays involving him.
The Nestene, A pre-historical terrestrial species, a debacle with an alien race and shenanigans at a power plant. My, you have been busy Doctor.
The Nestene! Of all the ancient entities, the Nestene had finally attempted to invade the Earth? With their aggressive colonisation profile it was inevitable I suppose, but actually during the Doctor's arrival directly after his trial? Coincidence is unlikely.
It seems the High Council are making good their terms. Incredible. To what degree will their continued interventions take? I shall have to keep my eyes on this. My mole in the Citadel will have his work cut out for him.
And what a botch-up! A simple signal-breaker put paid to the mighty Nestene? Child's-play. Indeed, a child on Gallifrey could have done much the same.
No doubt he received a standing ovation back at his surrogate home. Pathetic.
The Doctor's attachment to a military organisation is surprising though. I thought his predilection for pacifism would be at odds with this choice.
Ah! Not so surprising when I see that this is a specialised branch of a global organisation dedicated to extra-terrestrial 'threats'. How bold. They don't even have rudimentary orbital defences.
It appears this organisation is steeped in dogma and bureaucratic 'red-tape'.
This is a weakness which shall serve me well, as all bureaucracies are self-limiting.
Important decisions may take weeks, months, even years to resolve. It seems some things never change anywhere in the cosmos.
I like predictability. It is so reassuring.
-----------------------------------------------
Beyond belief. How stupid could the Doctor's associates be? A Nestene Energy Sphere remains intact and dormant on Earth. Not only that, but one of the Doctor's colleagues has allowed it to be used in a public display.
It will be simple to make contact with the Nestene and offer an alliance.
I will remove the vulnerability that the Doctor exploited, and create a modulating frequency for the Nestene to use. I will imprint a modulation matrix within the plastic molecules themselves. You cannot block a constantly-changing frequency Doctor.
I will also need a mobile base of operations. A cover. Something that will not draw suspicion or scrutiny. I shall devise something creative.
I shall also add a little flair of my own to their strategy, my own personal stamp.
Your adopted planet will be overrun, it's civilizations destroyed. I shall observe its downfall from the comfort of my TARDIS.
-----------------------------------------------
It appears my 'eyes and ears' on Gallifrey has been discovered. My mole has outlived his usefulness. I hope the little surprise implanted in his skull activates before he reveals anything useful to them.
-----------------------------------------------
Of all the blasted confounded luck!
I am now without any means of escape for Earth, but I still have my TARDIS. It is safe. Hidden.
Naturally, I have a contingency planned.
I have deposited considerable material wealth on Earth under a number of false identities to avoid arousing suspicion and scrutiny. It will suffice to provide me with the resources I need to function on this planet.
Since UNIT will be expecting me, it is too risky to re-acquire my dematerialisation circuit directly. No, I will find something else to occupy my time with until then.
And so to The Bahamas.
The weather is excellent and I shall enjoy the splendour of 'five-star luxury'. There are many new diversions to enjoy - for a little while, at least.
