Very good, though I think it would have made a better two-parter. I hope they return to multi-part episodes in the next series because, as good as some of the story ideas are this year, the standard 40 minute adventure length makes them feel that bit less epic. It can sometimes feel like every episode is a filler episode.

The Cybermen were the best we've seen so far in the new series. However I would have preferred if they didn't talk as Nick Briggs suggested. Also - I wish the Doctor possession would have been less camp. Possibly less brightly lit would have been good as well  Otherwise good, but short. |

Superb. There were so many good bits:
a) The ending of the Cyberwars-a plausibly pyrrhic victory.
b) A credible reconciliation of the Cybermen's vulnerabilities to gold and 'Polly's Cocktail witht heir rather more robust current incarnations.'
c) A very nice remodelling of the Cybermen .
d) Meeting the Emperor.
e) A bravura performance from Matt Smith
Quite easily the best episode so far in this series but then hardly surprising considering the writer.

I enjoyed it but I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected to. After The Doctor's Wife I expected a lot more from Neil Gaiman and instead the writing was nothing special. What was up with the constant upgrades? Now the Cybermen are the Borg. Didn't like that.
I like the new redesign though. A nice mix of the old and new styles.

I liked Warwick Davis. I actually liked Clara. I loathed the kids. I'm on the fence about the new Cybermen. I dont like the ARC reactor on the chest, but otherwise the new design is okay. I think the detachable head and hand lose sight of the Man part of Cyberman. There is supposed to be a person in that cybershell. If not, they are robots and not cyborgs. Superspeed was okay, but i noticed that like Jedi, they fail to use the power when it would be most useful. And, for all this talk of Gaiman making them scary again in part by the dialogues claim that a single Cyberman is a planet ending threat? I recall Jack Harkness saying the same thing back in 2006. So, nothing new there |

Nothing actually says that the whole body is there. If the vital parts (at least part of the brain) are stored in the torso, the remainder can be discarded and the unit still counts as a cyborg. |

I've always just assumed that the brain and a few recyclable organs were the only organic bits inside a cyberman.

Super-speed was a bit silly, especially since they didn't use it in combat. Shooting straight, or even just punching someone, is a lot harder, if at all possible, when sprinting flat out. |
