Thank you for the link eryx. I must confess that this one must have slipped under my radar too somehow. As you say it is perfect source material for both CoC, and more importantly, Doctor Who. It has already given me an idea for a 4th Doctor/Phillip Hinchcliffe style adventure, "Mountain of the Dead" for such the place has been called by the indigenous Mansi people since long before the Dyatlov incident. The strange/unexplained and horrific nature of the events, the sightings of "flying spheres", the high radiation readings and the old Mansi legends of the sacred hidden "Golden Gates" leading deep into the mountains to a chamber containing the golden statue of an ancient "Goddess"!!! This really makes for a great Doctor Who story. Thanks again for bringing it to our attention.

I'd come across this before, with a boring rational explanation about hypothermia and subsequent narrative embellishment. I prefer the CoC/DWAITAS story.
