Not bad. I was expecting more but it was a good enough episode.

Interesting that he's eating an apple. Interesting that he calls her Amy Williams. Loved the idea of the most conquered planet in the galaxy

Yes, but what did he see in Room 11?

It's painting the Doctor into the corner for me - I can't see how they (the writers) can now justify him having companions again. It's also making it look more probable that he dies. Unless they bring back the Time Lords as an enforcing authority rather than regressive demented warriors - or seriously buff up the Shadow Proclamation to make time travel less deadly for his companions. Or failing that, the Doctor gets a companion that is less vulnerable than a Human. The nod to the Nimon, the maze/minotaur bit was good. The 80's hotel was a "why?". I'd have thought a hospital would be creepier. Nevertheless it does give me an opportunity to plug my wiki site for "Creepy Hotel" - which is full of short roleplaying ideas for any gaming system (albeit mostly meant for near-modern day) Anyhow, the episode- Kinda disturbed that when hit, Rory assumes it's Amy, and when weird stuff happened a couple episodes ago, he assumed he was dead. I found the whole faith in the Doctor thing quite believable for Amy - although possibly a bit too easy for the Doctor to dispell. I'm guessing they skipped the gambler's faith change as the first victim because there's no way to show on TV how someone's faith in luck can save them from the evil ventriloquist dummies, whereas conspiracy theorists and muslims have faiths more easily personified - and understandable by the audience. The "He's saving us" line was nicely poignant. Far less melodramatic than previous companions.

Any time the Doctor has set off sans companion, they've found a way to get him to take on new ones...including stowaways in the bad old days when he kept forgetting to LOCK THE DOOR. As for his death, we'll see in just a few weeks.

Interesting that he's eating an apple. Yep. I thought so too. The 11th Doctor hates apples doesn't he.

I wonder if eating one now means he is an imposter as some think or just a symbolic thing going back to 11th Hour and somehow relating to him letting Amy go.

That's an interesting idea - what if the Doctor liquified in the Flesh episode (for some reason) and comes back from that soup later? As to getting companions later - I did have a think about it, and he doesn't have a problem making hard decisions when the time comes. If it saves more lives to have a companion, he'll take one - however he's probably try not to have them travel with him too long. More likely to go to a short term rotation thing - casual companions.

Alternatively, what if a/the Flesh-doctor was killed in The Impossible Astronaut? That seems to be the current popular theory. I still wonder if that plot will be resolved this year. The whole issue of who caused the TARDIS to be destroyed [and how] was never resolved last year. I hear episode 13 this year is crazy full of stuff.

It's a Moffat isn't it - he puts things in a lot (if Let's Kill Hitler is anything to go by). Actually usually all the best plot devices and interesting characters come from Moffat stories (Pompadour, Jack Harkness etc).
