Am I correct in assuming that the Armour trait for Aliens doesn't reduce Energy weapons damage the same as mundane armour? Thanks in advance!

It DOES reduce lethal damage... Treat lethal damage as 8.

It DOES reduce lethal damage... Treat lethal damage as 8. Do you have a source for that? I know the book says when you need to treat Lethal damage as a number, you can assume 8 unless it says otherwise, but I've not fond anything that says the Armour trait of an alien means you need to convert. There's no mention of it under the Armour trait, it just says reduce numerical damage. And the armour rules specify that energy weapons ignore armour.

In Gamemasters Guide p 112 "Even Lethal damage is resisted - treat it as 8 levels of damage and reduce accordingly." I would interpret that the the capital L in "Lethal" unless a typo, means that you treat L damage as 8 and reduce, not convert damage with enough points to kill the target as 8 then reudce accordingly. OTOH it does say on page 69 of the Player's Handbook that energy damage cannot be reduced by armor.

This is very curious indeed. The reason I posted what I did was because my boxed set was in my study and I had the Aliens and Creatures PDF on my laptop with me, so I looked up the Armour trait in the latter. And it is different!
Most of the text is the same but the part about treating Lethal damage as numerical has been removed. Based on the text in the Gamesmaster's Guide, I agree with you. Alien Armour should (probably) help protect against energy weapons. It's not clear 100% though and even though DW:AITAS is rules-light, I think we'd need to get more specific in order to actually be accurate. For example, Sontaren armour doesn't protect against energy weapons by the rules just as SWAT Body Armour doesn't. But the Sontarens are a TL6, probably TL7, civilisation. They might not deploy their most expensive or heaviest armour to their basic infantry (they have rather a lot of soldiers to outfit after all), but I think it should have some edges over modern day police. So I'd be inclined to allow some armour to count against energy weapons but not others. Maybe base it around comparative TL's.
