I'm looking to build a Knight from the alternate universe of the Battlefield episode [and especially the novel]. I'm looking for suggestions on building the armor and perhaps a sword as Gadgets. All ideas appreciated!

I don't recall the standard knight's armour and sword having any extraordinary powers, so:
Battlefield Knight's Armour [Minor Gadget]: Armour (5 points of damage reduction). Cost: 1 point.
Battlefield Knight's Sword [Major Gadget]: Natural Weapon x2 (sharp, heavy) Strength +4 damage. Cost: 2 points.
The sword Excalibur emitted a distress signal and was also the key to powering the dead King Arthur's spaceship - not sure how to cost the latter, possibly zero cost, just a side-effect if you like:
Excalibur [Special Gadget]: Natural Weapon x2 (sharp, heavy) Strength +4 damage; Transmit. Cost: 3 points.
To be honest, Excalibur could have other traits which just weren't seen in Battlefield - Scan for example. Maybe it was King Arthur's equivalent of the sonic screwdriver.

I was wondering if i needed to pay for the armour/damage reduction of the armour and the damage bonus of the sword. The issue seems murky to me. I know there is an example of Sontarans not paying for their armour/weapons because they can be removed. Any thoughts on this? Is armour and a sword in this case Equipment or Gadget? Based on the novel, the armour may have Scan and possibly Transmit. I can see Flight and possibly even a variant of Vortex to allow for dimension hopping. Since the PC armour won't be doing dimension-hopping, I will skip Vortex.

I'd say if they do something armour and swords don't normally do, they're Gadgets, otherwise they're Equipment.
Let's say Excalibur cuts through anything and ignores Armour, a good example of powers attributed to it, which would qualify it as a Gadget.

So, using Craig's advice, the armour would be a Gadget with Armour, Scan, Transmit, Flight and optionally Vortex. Whereas the standard sword would be classed as Equipment, and Excalibur would be a Gadget probably with all sorts of traits. I've heard that the novel of Battlefield is very good - I'm hoping that they'll include it in the audiobook range soon.
