The Weeping Graske
For my one group I was lacking a major adversary. I figured I'd shy away from the usual renegade Time Lord, already doing that in the other group, so how about some a tad sillier, The Graske.
Modern day. The group are chasing an alien around a maze at a a stately home, I was thinking Longleat (especially as it has the Doctor Who connection - there was a DW display there for many years). They need to capture it to take it back to it's home planet.
The chase starts in the Manor House where there is a photo display on show of the House's long history. They eventually end up chasing it through a maze.
The alien? At first I thought the Hoix, but on reflection that may be too aggressive for the story, so maybe just a Hath or something that is running scared.
They eventually catch up with the alien at the center of the maze, but something is wrong. He is collapses at the feet of a statue. The alien is now old and weak. He says he knew they would find him here, as this was where it happened. He's been waiting for many years for this day. The group should obviously ask him to explain. But the lien grows weak and just utters the words, "Don't blink!" before he dies. He is indeed lying at the feet of a WEEPING ANGEL! He had been sent back in time and his future self came back here to warn the group (or gloat, however you want it).
PCs should try and get the heck out of there. I suggest having them stalked by the angel through the Maze.
SCREAMING! This is coming from the exhibition. Amongst the lifesize photos on display is a photo of the Weeping Angel, and it is stepping out of the frame - Now there are two of them!
At this point one of the group should notice a big sign announcing that the entire photo collection is now viewable on-line. 2+2= a Weeping Angel potentially in every computer in the world! but if the PCs try to pull the plug on that the owner refuses and stops them. Eventually the bravado of the 'owner' is too much and he reveals himself as a Graske!
The Graske's plan
- He brought the Weeping Angel to Earth.
- He knows about them living even through images and hence is having the Angels do his work for him by wiping out the humans.
- The Graske has his own smaller version of the 'Immortality Gate' (like the Master uses in The End of Time). All he needs to do is replace original Weeping Angel to replace all of the dopplegangers with Graske.
Stopping the plot
- PCs should be able to find the Graske Lair within a hidden room in the Manor House (sonic screwdriver or wrist scanner will be able to detect alien tech). the Graske should not be a great individual threat.
- Maybe the Graske has a teleport, or some other device he used to trap the Angel.
- the Graske & Angel have already meddled with Time, so time can be re-written here. So maybe any PCs caugh by the Angel can enter a virus on the Internet to target the Manor or pictures of the Angel before they get uploaded?
- let the group deal with just the one Angel. The Dopplegangers are weak copies and will just turn to stone if the original Angel is stopped or removed from Earth.
- some other bright idea I'm hoping you can come up with
Obviously this is still very much in the ideas stage, but this is roughly what I'm thinking of being my first adventure in the New Year when we start DW:RPG again. I just like the TERROR of there being Weeping Angels on the Internet.
