8-)Yum! Crunchy...Stats for the Doctor 3, young and old Brigadier, young Sarah Jane, Liz, Jo, Mike Yeats, Benton even Harry Sullivan! Also the leaders from the new show. Why Malcolm only gets a 5 Ingenuity, I'll never know
:oWoo Hoo! Flavor text and picture goodness ! The history is fairly complete from origins in "The War Machines" to the current show. Pics of Doctors 2,3,4,7,10, one from "The Five Doctors" with the Doctor1, Delgado's Master, early Liz Sladen.
Due to the content, this may be as much as we will ever get to a Third Doctor sourcebook. I can live with that.
Because of the pics and content, if anyone knows. Did this represent a slight change in BBC merchandising policy?

Since C7 are print proofing someone might want to notify Dom that Liz Shaw has incorrectly got a speciality of Astrophysics listed under her Knowledge and not Science skills.

I've got a bit of a dilemma. I've pre-ordered and I am currently downloading...nevermind it finished downloading the pdf. That's not the problem.
This is: I want to read it!!! I want to wait for the book to arrive!!!

I want to wait for the book to arrive!!! Read it! That's what I'm doing while avoiding the US Presidential debate I'm showing in class. UNIT is so much better for my mental health. This book is full of win from what i can see. Back in the day, I ran a UNIT game using Cinematic unisystem. Been waiting for a UNIT book since i was in the playtest for the 10th Doctor edition

Great stuff indeed from my initial skim through. This was a bit of a surprise as I guess the assumption was that The Time Traveller's Companion would arrive first but having 2 major releases in 2012 is good news and a real relief after a long wait.

My mind is weak! Shortly after posting my previous post I decided to take a peek at the mass-combat rules, then the Base Traits, etc. One thing I noticed was on pag 46. one of the document clearances is: Delta (green) sensitive Reference to Delta Green ?

I love that GMs' CRASH team concept is included. I'm waiting for someone to gripe about the UNIT era debate. Though, frankly, aside from a few jokes, the modern series has pretty conclusively put that to rest. [though now there is debate about some Amy and Rory timing. stupid internet]

EDITING ERROR - Page 37 describes a Base Trait called "Minions". This trait does not appear on the trait list on Page 33. The trait describes it as "Your Group has a research staff..."
Is this truly a Base Trait? If it is, it is missing from the list and perhaps needs to be altered. If it is a Character Trait of sorts, perhaps it is in the wrong section.

EDITING NOTE
UNIT HQ UK on page 42 is listed as Laboratory x 2. The Base Trait Laboratory is not listed in description or on the Base Traits list as being able to be purchased multiple times. So does that mean the base gets 6 Story Points for Science rolls? or The Base description is wrong?

So does that mean the base gets 6 Story Points for Science rolls? or The Base description is wrong? Logically, I'm assuming the base gets 6 Story Points and you can purchase 'Laboratory' multiple times but this does need official clarification.Minions is indeed a base trait (it is listed as such in the Primeval game) and a character trait and can be purchased multiple times and the types of Minions can be specified. Unlike in Primeval, 'Minions' is given a specific number of six personnel.

A couple of points regarding The Third Doctor and Jo Grant:
Jo Grant is a "fully qualified agent" so where is her Subterfuge skill? Other companions have some rudimentary Subterfuge skill but not Jo.
Also, the Third Doctor has the 'Face in the Crowd' trait. The Third Doc was anything but able to blend in, sticking out like a sore thumb, so he should have the 'Distinctive' trait shouldn't he? There are many quotes and reactions from characters on the Doctor's appearance, for example: The Time Lord in Terror of the Autons: "We Time Lords don't care to be conspicuous, some of us, that is... ", and also the look Professor Winser gives upon meeting the Doc in 'Claws of Axos'.
Jon Pertwee, dressed in flamboyant Edwardian clothing, shock of silver-grey hair and proud profile, striding like he owns the place along a street of regular people is not a face in the crowd at any stretch.
Writers need to be thoroughly familiar with their subjects and research them well. I’m not trying to be pedantic or patronising but this is a fan-dominated niche. Many players and GM's here are series experts so if I don’t point this out, someone less gracious certainly might!
On the whole, these are two relatively small points in an otherwise flawless and magnificent book.

Indeed, she was surprisingly proficient at lockpicking and escapology! I particularly like the exchange between the Doctor and the Squire in The Daemons: WINSTANLEY: Are you one of these television chaps then? DOCTOR: I am no sort of chap, sir. WINSTANLEY: Forgive me, but I thought... well, the costume and the wig, you know? DOCTOR: Wig!? Always makes me chuckle.

Looks like an excellent book - it's a great source for weapon and vehicle stats, as well as the new rules for mass combat and bases. A big thumbs up from me!
And the adventures look interesting too - nice choice of baddies for Prison of the Slavers.

My stats for the Third Doctor do in fact use Distinctive instead of Face in the Crowd, and Jo should have Subterfuge, as 'escapology' is really her only skill outside of being able to charm the balls off a Dalek. So something got fluffed there, apparently. Still, these are the things PDF releases catch, so good on ya...

Still, these are the things PDF releases catch, so good on ya... Thank you. Also, Jo has a science skill of zero. You might want to check this whole thread too for errata (like Liz Shaw having Astrophysics as an area of expertise for Knowledge, not Science).

I absolutely love it! Firearm rules, mass combat rules, the base traits.
The pdf is unfortunately a bit too heavy for my android tablet, so I have to turn off images.
One little thing: * No new bad character traits.
I am also unsure how the bad Base trait: Traitor is going to work. If the players picked it, they are going to be paranoid about every NPC. If the GM picked it, the players have one base point extra to spend, but they are going to suspect it is because of the Traitor bad trait.

I don't know if it is useful to report, but I've found a small typo on page 40, the Valiant write-up. There is no , between Medic and Mobile Base.

One other small error I've spotted, in case C7 are still in final proofing:
The list of New traits on p59 lists UNIT Veteran as a Major Trait. Whereas it is clear from the description on page 60 that it's a Special Trait costing 4 points.

Also, Jo has a science skill of zero. I assumed that this was a deliberate choice, reflecting her comment in Terror of the Autons which implies that although she took General Science at A level, she didn't pass! I guess there's a debate as to whether she should actually have Science 1 as she at least took the exam.
